The Bali Adventure: Day 2 – Exploration in Chandra Luxury Villa

Hello lovely people! The clock shows 9am and everyone’s awake on the second day of our Bali adventure! Over here in Chandra Bali Villas they do not use alarm clocks to wake us up, instead, it was the tantalizing scent of pan-fried bacon strips and fresh aroma of the local black coffee being brewed. What a painless and stress-free way of waking people up. Ed and Sab was, no exception, awoken by the delightful smell of freshly cooked breakfast and couldn’t wait to hop out of the comfortable king-sized bed. After a quick change of clothing, Ed and Sab walked, pretty briskly, towards the dining area, even though food was still being prepared. They just couldn’t wait!

The first thing they saw on the table was a bunch of pretty fruits arranged nicely in a rattan basket, with a banana leaf wrap as a base. Smells really good!

Just as Ed was about to grab one straight the table, a chef pops up from the right side with a knife! Ed was a little surprised and almost dropped the red apple he held in his hand. It turned out that the chef was just there to help with serving of the fruits.

Ed and Sab were told to wait a little more longer for the breakfast to be prepared, so they decided to explore the entire villa a little more. They head right from the dining table and arrived at the living room, which had a lovely velvety brownish cover with nature-based motifs sewed into all the cushions.

Resisting the temptation to just drop down onto the sofa and relax, Ed and Sab went on with their exploration of the villa. They found a, rather peculiar looking sculpture of a couple with both their heads tilted to opposing sides. The sculptures were depicted in a sleeping pose, and this did not really help with Ed and Sab trying to stay awake.

Next they headed towards the swimming pool, where the lovely pink beach chairs and tables were simply inviting Ed and Sab to join them to bask in the warm morning sun. Here’s a glimpse of how the vegetation is simply saying: “The sun’s awesome, let’s soak in it!”

Heading back to the room for a quick burst of cold air from the air-conditioners, Sab noticed that there happen to be a cute little notepad right beside the bed, with a logo that looks like a blossoming flower. Ed couldn’t care less though, and started to zone out due to the lowered temperature in the room

Oh! And if I haven’t shown you yet, here are some of the lovely floral flourishing around the villa

Finally breakfast was prepared and Ed and Sab strolled back towards the dining area. The first thing they saw was a rattan coaster with curious objects placed on top of it. It turned out to be various jams and, some spicy local Balinese chilli!

The table has also been set in the standard fine dining manner, save apart from the missing soup spoon. It was a nice flower handkerchief on the plate though.

I must say the chef did a fine job in the presentation of the fruits! everything ranging from watermelon to honeydew was nicely sliced and plated. It was literally an edible rainbow on a plate!

Below are the two drinks that was served to Ed and Sab during the breakfast, one was watermelon juice, and the other being orange juice, with cute decorations placed on the glasses.

Up next the chef brought over a basket, containing a mix of different bread, ranging from croissant to wholemeal sandwiches.

Now the main courses are slowly making their way onto the dining table, with the eggs all varying in style of cooking, from a simple sunny side to a complex benedict!

– – –

The later part of that day, Ed and Sab was invited to a traditional Balinese welcoming ceremony that involved festive lights, traditional dancers and lots of excellent food! In fact, Ed and Sab know that it’s going to be a sumptuous night when they saw this amazing sculpture outside their room this evening. And yes, it is entirely made out of fruit!

They also saw this nicely decorated table with dainty candle lights and decorative umbrellas placed beside it. The soft glow from the candles emitted a really warmth aura.

Later on there was live demonstration of fruit sculpturing just beside the setup. The chef skilfully carved the sides of the watermelon out to create a lovely flower “watermelon” ball.

Night came faster than we thought, the setup that they did previously, now glowed in the night and the candle lights seemingly resembled hovering fireflies to add on to the already romantic vibes of the villa.

The dishes soon arrived after we have taken our seats at the dining table. The main dish of the night was their Balinese speciality, Suckling Pig. Followed by a few more local side dishes like satay and Gula Melaka cakes.

There was a live demonstration of the carving of the suckling pig, Ed, Sab, and their friends couldn’t resist going up closer to check out the works, and of course, to sample the food as soon as possible!

Ed, Sab and their friends swiftly took their food from the serving table and started to dig into it! It was finger-licking good! The tender roasted skin and pork blended in mutual agreement and the satay with local peanut sauce was just too good to be true. Holy.

And just when we thought that the night was over, from the corner of our eyes, a pair of lovely ladies adorned with traditional Balinese cultural dresses and accessories, took our breath away and left Ed and Sab mind-blown with their mystifying dance, which was only usually performed at traditional Balinese weddings.

The night quickly came to a close as Ed, Sab and their friends took a group shot together with dancers to commemorate the amazing evening that the lovely team from Chandra Villas are so kind to organise. That concludes our day 2, within our Bali adventure! 🙂
